From Heartbreak to Home: Manu and Priya’s Takeover Journey

For Manu and Priya, building their family home was meant to be an exciting new chapter. They were looking forward to creating a home where they and their two teenage children could finally settle in and make lasting memories together. Instead, it became one of the most difficult experiences their family had faced. Part way through their knockdown rebuild, their original builder went into liquidation, leaving the home sitting unfinished at lock-up stage and their dream home suddenly uncertain.

 Like many families in the same situation, they were left asking themselves one question.

Who could they trust to finish what had been started?

After speaking with Ellari Homes, they decided to take that leap of faith. Looking back, Manu says he knew from their very first conversation that things felt different. “From day one I got the feeling Damian was the guy I could trust.”

Learning to Trust Again

Taking over an unfinished home is never as simple as picking up where someone else left off. Before construction could continue, every part of the home had to be carefully assessed. Defects needed to be identified, incomplete works reviewed and repairs planned before moving forward. But for Manu and Priya, rebuilding the home wasn’t the biggest challenge. Rebuilding their confidence was.

As Priya later shared: “It was really hard to place our trust into any other builder at that point and we were completely shattered by the experience.”

Those words are something we hear from many takeover clients. When a builder collapses, it’s not only the project that’s left unfinished. Confidence, excitement and certainty often disappear too.

Our role was to help restore all three, so they could look forward to building again instead of fearing it.

A Home Worth Waiting For

With the project back on track, Manu and Priya finally had the opportunity to focus on the exciting part again: creating the family home they had originally imagined. Designed for a family of four, the home includes five bedrooms, five bathrooms and four separate living areas, giving everyone their own space while still bringing the family together.

The kitchen became the heart of the home, complete with a large butler’s pantry, stone benchtops and generous open-plan living that flows seamlessly to the outdoor entertaining area.

A guest bedroom with its own ensuite provides flexibility for visiting family, while the upstairs retreat gives their teenage children a place to study, relax and spend time with friends. Throughout the home, premium finishes, a striking glass and timber staircase, feature fireplace and carefully selected fixtures create a home that’s both elegant and welcoming.

More Than Finishing a Build

Five months after taking over the project, including all required rectification works, the family finally reached handover. For Manu, one word sums up the experience. “Easy. No stress, no hassling, no chasing about anything. Clear updates.”

That peace of mind meant so much after everything the family had already been through.

Priya said Ellari Homes didn’t simply finish their project – “They take care of it as their own and they make your dream come true.”

Finally Home 

Looking back, both Manu and Priya say the greatest outcome wasn’t simply receiving the keys. It was being able to enjoy the journey again. Priya wrote that Ellari Homes had: “Earned our trust forever…” While Manu summed up his experience with words we’ll never forget. “I wish I met them earlier. You will always be part of us.”
