Hafiz’s First Home Journey 

Building your first home is one of life’s biggest milestones. It’s exciting, rewarding and often filled with plenty of questions along the way. For Hafiz and his family, it was about creating more than just a new home – it was about building a place where they could settle into the next chapter of their lives and make lasting memories together.

After securing a block in Melbourne’s north, they quickly realised it wasn’t a standard allotment. Rather than trying to fit a standard floor plan onto the land, they wanted a home that was thoughtfully designed around the block, while still delivering everything they had envisioned for their family’s future.

Like many first-home buyers, Hafiz took the time to research builders before making his decision. After discovering Ellari Homes through social media, he arranged a meeting with the team to learn more.

Inside, Hafiz and his family chose a light, neutral colour palette complemented by warm timber tones, creating bright, open living spaces that feel both modern and inviting.

Thoughtful Choices That Make Everyday Living Easier

As they worked through their selections, the family focused on upgrades that would genuinely improve the way they lived.

Instead of carpet throughout, they selected durable laminate flooring to create a practical, low-maintenance finish that’s well suited to busy family life. Higher 2740mm ceilings were another important inclusion, helping each room feel more spacious while allowing natural light to fill the home.

Storage was also high on the priority list.

A generous walk-in pantry keeps the kitchen organised, while the walk-in linen provides valuable additional storage that every growing family appreciates. These practical features may not always be the first things people notice, but they’re often the details homeowners value most once they’ve moved in.

 The kitchen quickly became the heart of the home, combining quality appliances, streamlined cabinetry and stone benchtops to create a space that’s equally suited to everyday family meals and entertaining friends.

The bathrooms continue the home’s calm, timeless feel, with the spacious ensuite featuring a large shower, double vanity and carefully considered finishes that elevate the space without compromising practicality.

Building With Confidence

Like many people building for the first time, Hafiz admits one of his biggest concerns was unexpected costs, particularly variable site costs.

“Variable site costs were really the biggest fear. But you guys did it with transparency, honestly, and especially the attention to detail was awesome.”

Having open conversations from the outset helped remove much of the uncertainty that many first-home buyers experience, allowing the family to enjoy the journey knowing they were being kept informed every step of the way. As construction progressed, it wasn’t just the communication that left a lasting impression.

“I’ve seen so many other builders… but I’m really impressed by the quality they have delivered.”

Hafiz also had special praise for Ellari Homes’ Construction Manager, Tas.

“I consider myself an OCD guy, but I think Tas picked everything by himself before I even saw it.”
